Engage the foot brake.
5.
Wait three seconds, then engage the truck
transmission by selecting D (drive).
6.
Take your foot completely off the brake.
7.
The transmission will shift into 6-4 and be displayed
on the SELECT MONITOR.
NOTE
The transmission must shift into 6-4. On occasion
(usually on a cold engine) the transmission may shift
into 6-1. If this occurs, place the transmission into N
(neutral) then select D (drive). If the transmission fails
to shift into 6-4 again, press OFF on the VAC PUMP
rocker switch and press ROAD on the MODE switch .
Repeat steps 2 through 7.

The truck will throttle up to approximately 1300 RPM
to lock up the torque converter. Once the torque
converter is locked up, the truck will return to high
idle 850 RPM.
• If the torque converter does not lock up the
program, the truck will repeat the previous
process.

Depress VAC on the VAC/DUMP rocker switch
located on the front control panel to begin working.
The VAC switch also engages the PTO, which runs
the water pump.
If the truck fails to properly engage the PTO, there will be
one of two warning messages displayed on the front
control panel HMI screen.
• The PTO ERROR message (Figure 4-3) is shown
when the PTO cannot engage due to the engine
RPM being too high. If this screen is shown, lower
the engine RPM under 900 and try again.

• The PTO Solenoid Failure warning (Figure 4-4) is
shown if a solenoid has failed or if there is an
electrical problem between the solenoids and the
control panel. If this screen is shown, inspection is
necessary.
