LITTER CONTROL BOARD ALIGNMENT
Required Tools:
Phillips Head Screwdriver 3/32” Allen Wrench Needle–Nose Pliers
Volt/Ohm Meter Jewelers Screwdriver Thread Loctite
Red Lacquer (Finger Nail Polish)
Fowler Display Alignment Procedure:
NOTE
The following procedure is necessary when replacing the litter control board or when LED alignment is not
correct on Fowler and Trend. LED positioning.
Mechanical Alignment of the Fowler Potentiometer Shaft:
NOTE
The Fowler potentiometer shaft is located under the litter midsection at the patient’s right side.
1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the access panel under the litter midsection.
2. Using a 3/32” Allen wrench, loosen the set screws holding the Fowler pot shaft in the linkage arm.
3. Using the manual crank, lower the Fowler to flat.
4. Using needle–nosed pliers, turn the Fowler pot shaft fully clockwise to its mechanical stop.
5. Remove the foot end frame end (see page 16).
6. Unplug the Fowler pot cable and measure the resistance between the black wire and the green wire. Turn
the Fowler pot so that the resistance is between 55 and 65 ohms; lock down the set screws holding the
Fowler pot shaft and measure the resistance again.
7. Apply thread loctite compound to the set screws.
8. Reinstall the access panel.
Electrical Alignment of the Fowler Potentiometer:
1. Complete the mechanical procedure above.
2. Raise the Fowler to full up.
3. Using a jewelers screwdriver, adjust R8 on the litter control board so that the 90 degree LED on the Fowler
display is lighted. (Turning R8 clockwise will move the lighted LED toward the 0 degree end of the dis-
play). Adjust R8 so that it is positioned in the center of the range that keeps the 90 degree LED lighted.
This point is approximately 5 turns past the point at which the LED first lights.
4. Paint the adjusting screw of R8 with red lacquer.
Trendelenburg Display Alignment Procedure:
Mechanical Alignment of the Trendelenburg Potentiometer Linkage:
NOTE
The Trendelenburg potentiometer linkage is located under the frame end at the patient’s head, left side.
1. Using a 3/32” Allen wrench, loosen the set screws securing the Trend pot shaft in the linkage arm.
2. Using the foot pedal, raise the bed fully. Again, using the foot pedal, put the bed in full reverse Trendelen-
burg.
