Getting Started
Before First Use
After having your ceramic cooktop professionally installed, follow a few simple steps to prepare it for its fi rst
use.
• Start by reading this instruction manual from start to fi nish, familiarising yourself with the appliance.
• Pay particular attention to the general safety instructions covered earlier within this information manual.
• Ensure the cooktop surface is clean by wiping the cooktop surface with a damp cloth or sponge to remove
any dust that has accumulated. Dry thoroughly using a clean cloth.
• During your cooktops fi rst use, their may be an odour whilst operating the burners- this is normal. To
assist with eliminating any odours and burning off any moisture or humidity that may have formed on the
heating elements during transit, switch on one cooking zone at a time and let it heat up for 5 minutes at
the maximum heat setting. Place a suitably sized saucepan fi lled half full with cold water on to each zone
as you burn it off.
Note:
Do not burn off more than one zone at a time. Any odour or smoke can be disregarded safely; ensure
good room ventilation whilst following this procedure.
• Refer to the following pages for the switching on/off instructions.
Note:
The fi rst few times the ceramic cooktop is used, it may give off an acrid, burning smell. This is no cause
for concern. The smell will disappear completely with repeated use. Always ensure adequate ventilation.
Operating Instructions
Touch Controls
• The controls respond to touch, so you don’t need to apply any pressure.
• Use the ball of your fi nger, not the tip (Fig. 8).
• You will hear a beep each time a touch is registered.
• Make sure the controls are always clean, dry, and that there are no objects (e.g. a utensil or a cloth)
covering them. Even a thin fi lm of water may make the controls diffi cult to operate.
