Regular Safety Checks on Hospital Beds
Inspection cycle
As a guideline, we recommend a yearly inspection by our qualified service
engineers.
In accordance with EN 62353 (VDE 0751) (Association of German Electrical
Engineers – Regulation 0751), the inspection results may only be evaluated and
documented by experts with the corresponding knowledge, training and
experience. Furthermore, these experts must demonstrate proven knowledge of
the beds to be inspected as well as knowledge of the relevant requirements
(Medical Products Directive 93/42 EEC) as well as the respective national
laws/regulations which result from this.
Observe this order for the inspection according to EN 62353 (VDE 0751):
1) Visual inspection
2) Performance inspection
The protocol template for inspections based on the EN 52353 (VDE 0751) standard
is found on the following pages.
If damage or malfunctions are found, the bed must be taken out of
operation immediately until it has been repaired or the defective
components have been replaced!
A repeat inspection must be carried out in accordance with the test
sheet to determine whether the damage or malfunction has been
rectified.
The bed may only be put into operation again once this
precondition has been met.
