Fuselage
(continued)
24. Moisten the
OUTSIDE
of F23 with glass cleaner to facilitate bending it
around the tighter curves of the nose. Fit F23 in place with the moist side
out and tape in place until dry. When dry, remove tape and bond F23 to
fuselage side.
25. Locate cockpit side rails F24 and F25. Position rails to
LEFT
and
RIGHT
INSIDE
the cockpit. The rails will rest against former F6 and the instrument
panel F8, with their
UPPER
edges flush with the edge of the fuselage sides.
Bond rails with within the assembly.
26. Assemble hatch catch from ply parts F26 and F27. Square F26 to F27 then
bond parts with medium CA.
Editors Note: It is much easier to install the Neo Magnet within hatch catch
prior to installation of this part within the fuselage. I suggest skipping ahead
to step 88 and installing the Neo-Magnet prior to fitting catch within fuselage
in next step.
27. Fit the hatch catch to the slot in the bottom of former F6. Check to ensure
that catch landing surface (F27) is
PARALLEL
to
BOTTOM
of fuselage at
former F6 then and bond with medium CA. The hole in the catch will receive
a neo-magnet during final assembly.
28. Install the pushrod housing. Slide the yellow nylon tubing through the exit
slot in the
RIGHT
fuselage side, then through the hole in the
RIGHT
side of
F16, and finally through the hole in the
RIGHT
side of F6. Allow the tubing
to extend beyond F6 about 1/4 in.
29. Trim the pushrod housing flush with the fuselage side and sand smooth.
30. Revisit any tack glued joints within the fuselage assembly with a light
application of medium CA glue. Now, lightly sand the entire fuselage,
rounding the corners of the nose to a pleasing shape.
