Final Assembly Continued
Wheels Continued
67. Peel the backing paper from two of the foam wheel blanks. Carefully align
the two blanks over each other, sticky side to sticky side, and press together.
68. Center a 1/16 in. x 1/4 in. aluminum tube through the hole in the wheel
69. If desired, paint the ply wheel hubs W while they are still in the parts sheet.
Fit one hub over each end of the tube, and press snugly against the foam.
Secure with a small drop of medium CA at the junction of the tube and hub.
Ensure that no glue enters the end of the tube!
Repeat steps 67, 68 and 69
to build the second wheel.
70. Mount the wheels to the wire landing gear. Using small needle nose pliers,
bend the end of the axle 90 degrees, close to the wheel. Trim the excess
wire, leaving about 1/8 in. beyond the bend.
71. Press fit the wire landing gear to the slot under the nose of the model.
Secure the landing gear by wicking thin CA into the slot.
Wrapping it Up!
72. Connect the aileron servo lead to one of the two sockets behind the elevator
servo. Exactly which one is the correct one will be determined after you
have powered up your radio system. Study the receiver diagram on the
detail sheet and connect the motor lead to the receiver. The female
connector on the receiver has three holes. The motor lead will connect to
the two innermost holes, with the black wire pin in the hole nearest the
center of the receiver, at one end of the female connector. The white wire
pin will connect to the center hole in the female connector.
73. Mount the propellor [EFLM9051] by threading it onto the prop shaft. Mount
a small piece of “hook” Velcro [PKZ1039] to the
BOTTOM
of the fuselage ,
immediately behind the landing gear, to receive the flight battery.
Ta-Da!!
Your
RingRat (RC-050)™
is complete! If it’s too windy to test fly your model,
annoy the family by taxiing it around the house. Chase the cat! He’ll love it, I swear!
When the weather calms down, proceed to the Setup and Pre-Flight sections to prepare
for your first flights.
