MAINTENANCE
CHANGING AND CLEANING FILTERS
Located on the left side of the air cleaner is an “air flow”
(A) indicator. Use the air flow indicator to check if the fil-
ters need cleaned or replaced. Follow the steps listed
below. See figure 1-1.
1.
Turn the air cleaner ON.
2.
Check the air flow indicator. If the arrow points to
“green”, no cleaning is needed. If the arrow points
to “red”, then the filters will need cleaned or
replaced. Proceed to the next step.
3.
Turn the air cleaner OFF and let the blower come to
a complete stop before proceeding.
4.
Lift up and pull out on the bottom of the outer pre-
filter. The outer pre-filter can be cleaned in one of
three methods. Method one is using a shop vacuum
to remove the dust. Method two is by using com-
pressed air to blow the dust out of the filter. Method
three is by washing with soap and water.
NOTE: The three-pocket inner filter cannot be cleaned
and must be replaced when worn or air flow indicator
arrow points to red.
5.
Before replacing the outer pre-filter and with the
inner filter in place, turn the air cleaner ON and
check the air flow indicator. If the arrow points to
“green”, the inner filter will not have to be replaced.
If the arrow points to “red”, then the inner filters will
need to be replaced. Proceed to the next step.
6.
To replace the inner filter, lift and pull out on the
bottom of the filter.
7.
Install the new inner filter by placing the top of the
filter in first and allowing the bottom to sit on the air
cleaner.
NOTE: Make certain if there is an AIRFLOW ARROW
on either filter, that the arrow points inward toward the
blower of the air cleaner.
8.
Replace the outer pre-filter, by placing the top of
the filter in first and allowing the bottom to sit on
the air cleaner. Make sure it is sitting inside of the
bottom lip of the air cleaner.
9.
Turn the air cleaner on and again check the air flow
indicator. If the arrow points to “green”, you are
finished. If the arrow points to “red”, then the outer
pre-filter will need replaced.
LUBRICATION
The Air Cleaner has sealed lubricated bearings in the
motor housing that do not require any additional lubrica-
tion from the operator.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE FLAMMABLE MATERIALS
to clean Air Cleaner.
WARNING
Repairs to the Air Cleaner should be performed by
trained personnel only. Contact your nearest Steel City
Authorized Service Center for authorized service.
Unauthorized repairs or replacement with non-factory
parts could cause serious injury to the operator and
damage to the Air Cleaner.
• ALWAYS wear eye protection. Any machine can
throw debris into the eyes during operations,
which could cause severe and permanent eye
damage. Everyday eyeglasses are NOT safety
glasses.
• ALWAYS use properly fitting NIOSH/OSHA
approved respiratory protection appropriate for the
dust exposure, and wash exposed areas with soap
and water.
WARNING
WARNING
Compressed air can be dangerous. For operator safety,
DO NOT EXCEED an air pressure of 30 PSI or point air
nozzle toward anyone or aim nozzle at your own body.
