GENERAL INFORMATION
Caution
• When you turn on the Caliper, check the lower left of the display to see if the
battery symbol is showing. If the battery symbol is showing (Fig.1) then refer to
the “Rechargeable Battery Care and Maintenance” section, on page 6. If there is no
battery symbol visible then the battery is charged.
• Avoid extreme temperatures, direct sunlight or below freezing for extended periods.
• Avoid dropping the Caliper. Avoid shocks to the slide and measurement faces.
Frequently clean the faces using a dry cloth or a chamois.
• Isopropyl alcohol may be used to remove gummy deposits on metallic parts, but
do not use strong solvents.
• Apply a very light coat of lubricant on all the mechanical parts.
• Do not use aggressive solvents to clean plastic components.
• Avoid any disassembly or modification of the Caliper.
• Avoid using anything that might damage the buttons when pressing the buttons.
• Do not mark the tool with an electric marking pen as this may damage the tool.
W798 Wireless Caliper
The W series is unique in two ways, it has built in wireless communication and the
new rechargeable battery. The wireless tool works with DATASURE® Advanced 4.0
(DSA 4.0) program, and also works with the new Starrett Wireless Handtools Mobile
Application. The App can be found via the Apple’s App store or on the Google Play
website. The W798 Caliper has a new wireless symbol on the display (Fig.2A) and a
wireless\radio button on the top (Fig.2B).
