6.2.4 Opening and Closing the Enclosure Cover
Opening the enclosure cover
Unscrew the cover bolts in the enclosure.
Non-captive bolts: Remove the bolts from the enclosure cover and store them in a
safe place.
Captive bolts: Pull back the bolts in the through hole, then screw them one to two
revolutions anti-clockwise into the thread in the cover. Screws are fixed in the cover
and thus securely stored.
Carefully open or remove the enclosure cover.
Set the enclosure cover down carefully with the sealing surfaces facing upwards.
Closing the enclosure cover
Apply acid-free grease (Molykote BR2 Plus) to the joint face of the cover.
If available, fit the clean sealing ring into the groove on the sealing surface of the enclosure
cover.
Carefully close the enclosure cover.
Insert the cover bolts into the bolt holes and tighten them to the specified tightening
torques (see chapter "Technical data").
DANGER! Risk of explosion if there are damaged joint faces!
Non-compliance may result in serious or even fatal injury.
Always carefully lift, take off and attach the enclosure cover.
Make sure that the cover bolts do not scratch or scuff the sealing surfaces when
they are undone or tightened and when the cover is removed.
Use a suitable lifting tool without sharp edges.
If the joint face on the enclosure cover or enclosure is damaged, replace the
enclosure cover or enclosure immediately.
WARNING! Risk of crushing if heavy enclosure cover falls down!
Non-compliance may result in serious or even fatal injury.
When opening the enclosure cover, take into account how heavy it is.
Before opening the enclosure, have a suitable lifting tool ready
(take into account the weight; see chapter "Technical data").
Use a suitable lifting tool.
Secure the device against tilting.
Attach a suitable hinge if necessary.
WARNING! Risk of explosion if there are damaged joint faces!
Non-compliance may result in serious or even fatal injury.
Do not open the cover on size 3, 4 and 5 enclosures (with captive bolts and hinges)
more than 180°. If a wider opening angle is unavoidable, unscrew the screws from
the cover on the hinge side.
