5.5.4
Memory chip card
As an extension of the memory locations in the
unit, for data back-up or for the transfer of con-
figurations between two units it is possible to
memorize 24 configurations on the supplied
memory chip card. It is also possible to access
the card when the DSM-480LAN is remotely
controlled via a computer (
chapter 6.8.5).
1) Insert the card with the contacts showing
upwards into the slot PC CARD (3).
2) To call the menu, press the knob UTILITY (5).

5.6 Security adjustments
(Security Utilities)
The DSM-480LAN can be locked against acci-
dental misadjustment and unauthorized opera-
tion. It is possible to define if the adjustments are
to be visible or concealed when the unit is
locked.
5.6.1
Concealing parameters
To define if the adjustments are to be visible or
concealed when the unit is locked:
1) To call the menu, press the knob UTILITY (5).

in this way. Now it is not possible any more to
change the adjustments or to mute inputs or out-
puts. It depends on the preadjustment “Show
Parameter” (
chapter 5.6.1) if the adjustments
for the inputs or outputs are visible.
5.6.2.1 Unlocking the unit
To unlock the unit:
1) Press the knob UTILITY (5). The display
shows:

and press the knob ENTER to
confirm.
3) To exit the submenu, press the knob ESC.

Locking the unit with a password
The unit can be protected against unauthorized
operation with a password. When delivered and
after the reset of the unit (
chapter 5.7) the fol-
lowing password applies:

To make an unauthorized access difficult, it is
indispensable to change this password.

In this case repeat the input from step 3).
When entering a valid password, the fol-
lowing message appears:

6) Enter the new password here and press the
knob ENTER to confirm. A password may
consist of 6 characters as a maximum.
Note: To make unlocking of the unit possible
even when the unit is remotely controlled via
a computer, the password should only con-
sist of upper-case letters and lower-case let-
ters from the ASCII character set, numbers
and blanks.
7) To exit the submenu, press the knob ESC.
