Figure 4-2. Two views of the Model EX3150 clips connected to an DF4 lead: 1) Single clip
connected to the lead connector electrode, approached from the front; 2) Two clips
connected to the lead connector electrode rings, approached from the side. Use the window
on the top of the clip to visualize the connection to the electrode.
Start a Merlin™ PSA session
You can start a PSA session from the Start-Up Screen or during a device programmer session. The
Merlin PSA imports patient and device data from the ongoing device session into the PSA session.
Note
Use care when connecting the sterile patient cable to the lead. Avoid
contamination of or damage to the sterile connectors or leads. See
Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Sterilization Methods
.
CAUTION
Do not allow conductive parts of leads or connectors to come into
contact with other conductive parts, including Earth ground.
Ensure that the leads are connected to the appropriate channel.
Incorrect connections could result in inappropriate or harmful stim-
ulation as well as inaccurate intrinsic signal amplitude and slew rate
measurements.
In the event of power loss or communication failure, the Merlin PSA
switches to battery power to continue operation. If this occurs, the
Merlin PSA operates in
mode for as long as the battery
life permits or until power is restored to the Merlin PCS and a PSA
session is started. To ensure that the battery life is sufficient, the
Merlin PCS measures the Merlin PSA battery voltage when it is
turned on. If the batteries cannot sustain PSA operation for at least
30 minutes, you will see an alert indicating that the batteries are
near depletion and should be changed. See
Leaving the atrial connector disconnected when the Merlin PSA is in
DDD or VDD modes may result in the unit sensing external noise
and increasing the ventricular pacing rate to the Max Track Rate.
