TIME Controller rear panel

TIME Controller front panel

starts moving to its programmed default position. This occurs
in a fixed amount of time and is not programmable.

However,  to  avoid  retracting  the  loudspeakers  in  soft  pas-
sages, especially in movies there is a programmable turnoff
time. The installer can choose the amount of time they would
like to have before the speakers turn off and retract into the
ceiling. The first four positions of the dip switches on the rear
panel of the TIME Controller program this delay Time.

Table 1

shows the delay times that can be programmed into the TIME
Controller using the dip switches on the rear of the unit. Please
choose the time you want to use and set the dip switches ac-
cordingly. The last setting should only be used to test the sys-
tem. This small amount of delay will make the speakers open
and close during soft passages in movies or music.

NOTE:

When changing the dip switch settings, make sure you

cycle power to insure that the changes are incorporated in
to the unit’s standard operations

2. Assigning Speakers to each zone

For a TIME System a zone is a set of speakers which all play
at the same time and from the same source of music. There-
fore a Radio Tuner, CD, DVD, iPod Player and a Satellite Tuner
are all different sources. If you have a home theater room,
dining room, living room, Master Bedroom, Kid’s bed room,
Bathroom, Kitchen and Patio, these are all different rooms. A
room can only be part of one zone, but multiple rooms can
belong to one zone.
Let’s illustrate this with examples:

Assume we have a home with a home theater room, a kitch-
en and dining room. The home theater has 5 TIME Speakers
(speakers 1-5), The Kitchen has one TIME Speaker (speaker 8)
and the dining room has two TIME speakers (speakers 6 & 7).
You don’t want the DVD playing in the home theater to play
in the dining room. You don’t want the Radio in the kitchen
to play in the dining room, where you want the CD playing.
Therefore, Speakers 1-5 are in Zone 1, Speakers 6 & 7 are in
zone 2 and speaker 8 is in Zone 3. Call this example 1.

In  a  different  home,  you  have  TIME  Speakers  in  the  living
room (a stereo pair), in the Dining Room (a stereo pair), and
a great room (two sets of stereo pairs). You want all the same
music playing in the rooms at the same time, therefore when
one is on the other speakers are on too. This means you have
one zone of eight speakers. Call this example 2.

If you did not want the same music playing in all the areas
at the same time, then you would have three different zones
with 4 speakers in one zone and two in two other zones. Call
this example 3. If you did not want the same music playing
in all the areas at the same time, then you would have three
different zones with 4 speakers in one zone and two in two
other zones. Call this example 3.
