Optional Shelf-Latching Kit
Shelf latching kits are available for each system. These kits can be used with the
LyoStar II shelf assembly to create moveable shelf stacks. The primary use of the
shelf-latching system is to facilitate the stoppering of product vials; however, the shelf
latching kits may also be used to increase the distance between shelves when
processing product in large vials.
For example, if you plan to process vials using a three-shelf lyophilizer and find that
you require additional spacing between the shelves; you may use a shelf latching kit
to lock one or two of the shelves in the upright position. Locking a single shelf would
allow for two equally spaced shelves with a greater distance between shelves
(requires an LSLP-3.1, installation of which is detailed below), while locking two
shelves would allow you to process and stopper vials on a single shelf.
Installation
To install the LSLP 3.1 Shelf Latching kit:
Close the chamber door and move all of the shelves into the full up position 1.
with the stoppering switch.
Locate the threaded rods and wing nuts on the top of the shelf assembly and 2.
loosen the nuts.
Slide a plate between the shelf fluid hoses and the shelf assembly so that the 3.
lip of the plate rests on top of the shelf assembly, with the cutout notch around
the tie rod. Repeat for the other side.
