PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE(S)

Engine will not start.

1. Ignition Switch in the “OFF” position.

2. Engine flooded.

3. Fuel Tank empty.

4. Spark Plug not firing.

5. Fuel not reaching carburetor.

6. Carburetor requires adjustment.

7. The Vacuum Door is not fully closed.

1. Move ignition switch to the ON position.

3. Fill tank with correct fuel mixture.

4. Replace Spark Plug.

5. Check for kinked or split fuel line; repair or 

replace.

6. Contact a qualified service center.

7. Secure the Vacuum Door.

Engine will not accelerate, lacks 

power or stalls.

1. Choke lever in the “cold start” position.

2. Fuel not reaching carburetor.

3. Air filter dirty.

4. Spark plug fouled.

5. Carburetor requires adjustment.

6. Carbon build-up on muffler outlet 

screen.

7. Compression low.

1. Move choke lever to the “warm start/run” position.

2. Check for kinked or split fuel line; repair or replace.

3. Clean air filter.

4. Clean or replace plug.

5. Contact a qualified service center.

6. Contact a qualified service center.

7. Contact a qualified service center.

Engine smokes excessively.

1. Choke lever in the “cold start” position. 

2. Fuel mixture incorrect.

3. Air filter dirty.

4. Carburetor requires adjustment.

1. Move choke lever to the “warm start/run” position. 

2. Empty Fuel Tank and refill with correct fuel 

mixture.

3. Clean or replace air filter.

4. Contact a qualified service center.

Engine runs hot.

1. Fuel mixture incorrect.

2. Spark Plug incorrect.

3. Carburetor requires adjustment.

4. Carbon build-up on muffler outlet 

screen.

Engine will not idle properly.

Unit will not Blow or Vacuum

1. Bag is full.

2. Blocked fan/mulch blade.

3. Blocked tubes. 

1. Empty bag. Engine must be turned off. 

2. Clean the blockage. Engine must be turned off, 

and spark plug boot must be removed.

3. Clean the blockage. Engine must be turned off.
