• A tape recorded in HDV format on this unit cannot be
played on a device that does not support the HDV 1080i
format. Before playing on another device, it is
recommended to check the recording on the tape by
playing on this unit.
• When an HDV signal downconverted to a DVCAM
signal is recorded on an HDV/DV cassette in DVCAM
format, the recording capacity is approximately two-
thirds of the recording time shown on the cassette. When
recording in DVCAM format on a DVCAM cassette, the
recording capacity is the same as the recording time
shown on the cassette.
• On this unit it is not possible to input/output, record, or
play back progressive HDV format signals of 1080/24p,
1080/25p, 1080/30p, and 720/50p, and SD format
signals of 480/60p and 576/50p.
Playback formats and output signals
The relationship between format and output signals during
playback is as follows.
Analog signal outputs
YES: Output, NO: Not output
1) Can be used in 525/60, 625/50 format.
2) DVCPRO format CUE track playback, and playback in a format other than
25 Mbps are not possible.
3) With the INTERFACE SELECT >VIDEO OUTPUT menu item, select
whether to output a composite signal and S-video signal (simultaneous
output possible), an SD component signal, or an HD component signal.
4) A composite signal and S-video signal can be output simultaneously.
5) With the DISPLAY CONTROL >CHARA. DISPLAY menu item you can
select not to display text information.
6) Before playing back 4-channel audio recorded on a DV or DVCAM tape,
use menu item INTERFACE SELECT >AUDIO OUTPUT to select
whether to output CH-1 and CH-2, or CH-3 and CH-4. When a tape
recorded in HDV format is played, the output is always CH-1 and CH-2,
regardless of this setting. (Playback is 2-channel audio.)
7) DV (LP) format: Search pictures are output. When the unit is put into
playback mode, normal playback is impossible and pictures like search
pictures are output. (Image quality is lower, but the pictures can be used to
check the recorded content.) Audio is not output. The DV format indicator
on the front panel flashes.
8) The signal is output downconverted from HD. (Select the downconverted
format with the DOWN CONVERTER menu item.)
9) Audio playback is 2-channel mode.
10) Output in 720/60p format.
This unit can play back HDV 720/30p format signals, but
cannot output these playback signals from HDV/DV
connector.
