Overview
Overview
The DSBK-1820 HD Up-Converter Board is an optional board for
installation in the Sony DSR-1800/1800P/1800A/1800AP Digital
Videocassette Recorder or Sony DSR-1600/1600P/1600A/1600AP
Digital Videocassette Player.
The principal features of this board are as follows.
• An SD video signal from DSR-1800/1800P/1800A/1800AP or DSR-
1600/1600P/1600A/1600AP playback is up-converted to an HD
video signal, and supplied from two HD SDI outputs (1 output for
DSR-1600/1600P/1600A/1600AP)

. The HD SDI output signal also
has audio signals (four channels) synchronized to the up-converted
video signal, and timecode embedded.
• When installed in the DSR-1800/1800P/1800A/1800AP, SD input
signal can be up-converted to an HD SDI output. However, this is
subject to restrictions: read the following “Notes”.
• The DSBK-1820 board provides all the functionality included in the
DSBK-1801 and DSBK-1601 optional boards. It supports input and
output of SD SDI

format signals (output only with the DSR-1600/1600P/1600A/
1600AP).

• The DSBK-1820 cannot be used at the same time as the DSBK-1801/
1601 or DSBK-1802/1602.
• For the external reference signal, an HD 1125 bipolar tri-level sync
signal is not supported.
• An HD video process controller is not supported. A video signal
reflecting SD video process control is up-converted.
• SD and HD signals are output simultaneously, but HD SDI output is
delayed one frame with respect to SD output.
• Superimposing is not supported for HD SDI output.
• The following restrictions apply when an input signal is up-
converted.
- It is not possible to up-convert an i.LINK input or to an HD SDI
output. When an i.LINK input is selected, in the E-E mode HD SDI
output is muted.
- Timecode input is supported through the timecode input connector
or by a VITC signal inserted in a video signal. Embedded timecode
(RP188) in an SDI input is not supported.
