Upgrading
This section describes the procedure of upgrading the
VSR-2000 to the VSR-2000A using the upgrade kit
BKSR-U2000.
Upgrade kit (BKSR-U2000)
It consists of the following components:

Upgrading the VSR-2000 to the VSR-2000A finally
requires logical formatting of HDD because the file
format needs to be changed.
Because executing the logical formatting clears all of the
previously recorded data, save the material data that you
want to use in future, in any other VSR-2000/2000A or
in a storage media of your personal computer tentatively
before starting upgrading.
Returning the material data that you have saved in other
VSR-2000/2000A or a storage media of your personal
computer, back to the VSR-2000A upon completion of
upgrade, enables you to use the material data again.

To use the clip transfer function and the archive function
of the BZSR-2000, refer to Operating Instructions
available in the Trial version CD-ROM supplied with the
system.

When the VSR-2000 is kept installed in a rack, the
upgrade work is difficult. Uninstall the VSR-2000 from
a rack once and perform the upgrade work in a stable
location with sufficient space.

Be sure to take an appropriate preventive measure fro
static electricity such as putting on the earth wristband
that is connected to ground before starting removal and
installation of a hard disk and/or circuit board.

This section describes the upgrade work on the premise
that the upgrade work is done by system engineer or
service engineer.

Procedure

Do not lose the removed screws because they will be re-
used.
1.
Turn off the power switch of the unit and disconnect
the power cord from the wall outlet.
2.
Remove the SY-283/CCM-37/CCM-38 board as
follows.
(1) Remove the four screws.
(2) Open the board levers in the direction of the arrow and
pull out the SY-283 board.
(3) Remove the two screws and remove the CCM-37 or
the CCM-38 board.
