5 Maintenance
•
Keep the outer surfaces clean.
•
Use warm soapy water for cleaning. Never use flammable or caustic cleaning agents.
•
When cleaning your unit, be sure to keep the area around the burner and pilot assembly dry at
all times. Do not submerge the control valve assembly. If the gas control unit is immersed in
water, it must NOT be used. It must be replaced.
•
Keep the unit area free and clear of combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable
vapors and liquids.
5. Press and hold the burner control button for 15-30 seconds after ignition.
6. If ignition does not occur within 30 seconds, turn the control knob to the „OFF“ position, turn
off the gas at the source, wait 5 minutes for the gas to disappear and repeat the ignition pro-
cedure.
7. Adjust the flame with the control knob.
Caution:
Avoid inhaling vapours generated when using the heater for the first time. Smoke and
odour are caused by the combustion of oils used in manufacturing. Both smoke and odour will
dissipate after about 30 minutes. The heater should NOT produce thick black smoke.
Note:
The burner may be noisy when first switched on.
When the unit is switched on:
The reflector plate turns bright red due to intense heat. The colour is more visible at night. The bur-
ner shows a blue and yellow flame in tongue shape. These flames should not be yellow or produce
thick black smoke, indicating that the air flow through the burners is obstructed. The flame should
be blue with straight yellow tips. If an excessive yellow flame is detected, turn off the heater and
refer to „Troubleshooting“ on page 60.
Relight it:
1.
Turn the knob to OFF.
2. Wait at least 5 minutes until the gas has evaporated.
3. Repeat the steps under „Lighting“.
Turn it off:
1.
Press the control knob and turn it to OFF. (Normally the burner will make a slight popping
sound when it goes out).
2. Switch off the cylinder valve and disconnect the controller when the heater is not in use.
Note:
A certain discolouration of the emitter screen is normal after use.
After use:
1.
The gas control is in the OFF position.
2. The gas tank valve is switched off.
3. Disconnect the gas line.
FOR YOUR SAFETY
The heater is hot after use Proceed with
