Potential cause
Solution
No Crema.
Coffee beans are
stale.
You have used single
wall filters with pre-
ground coffee.
Buy freshly roasted coffee beans and grind
them just before preparation.
Always use
DUAL WALL
filters when using
pre-ground coffee powder.
Coffee runs down
the porta filter
and / or portafil-
ter comes out of
the brewing head
while brewing
espresso.
Portafilter not cor-
rectly mounted to
brewing group.
Coffee residues on
the edge of the filter
insert.
Edge of the filter
insert is wet or the
bottom of the por-
tafilter bracket is
wet. Wet surfaces
decrease friction
necessary for holding
the portafilter in
place, which is under
pressure during the
extraction.
Too much coffee
powder in the filter
insert
Make sure that the portafilter has been
turned in all the way to the right, until the
handle stands in the center. If the handle be
turned over the center, the silicone sealing is
not damaged.
Remove coffee remains from the edge of the
filter insert to ensure proper mounting in the
brewing head.
Always make sure that the filter insert and
portafilter are dry before they are filled with
coffee powder and inserted into the brewing
head.
Use the dosing instrument
RAZOR
after hav-
ing tamped the coffee powder.
The automatic
starting time can
not be set.
The current time has
not been set.
Always set the current time first.
The error mes-
sages E1, E2 or
E3 are displayed.

be solved by the user
has occurred.

Coffee powder
is sticking to the
brewing head
sieve.
This is normal and happens from time to time. The function ”Dry cof-
fee dregs“ generates a small vacuum in the upper end of the coffee
dregs, causing the coffee dregs to stick to the brewing head sieve
instead of remaining in the filter insert.
The pump keeps
running / The
steam is very
wet / The hot
water outlet has
a leak.
You have used demi-
neralized or distilled
water, which impairs
the functionality of
the machine.
We recommend always using cold, slightly
filtered water. It is not recommendable using
water with little or no minerals as e.g. dis-
tilled water. Should the problem persist even
though you use tap water, please contact the
Solis service center.
