III. Operating instructions
Direct voltage measuring
1. Plug the red measuring cable in the “VΩmA” socket and the black cable in the
“COM” socket.
2. Switch the switching button to a suitable “DC V” range. If the measured voltage is
unknown, choose the biggest range and reduce it gradually to achieve readability.
3. Connect the measuring cables in parallel with the measured circuit.
4. The displayed voltage can be read from the LCD including voltage polarity.
5. If the switch is set to 1000V and “HV” appears on the display, it signals that a
hazardous voltage level has been achieved.
Direct current measuring
1. If current below 200mA is measured, plug the red measuring cable in the “VΩmA”
socket. If the current is higher, use the “10A” socket. Plug the black cable in the
“COM” socket.
2. Switch the switching button to a suitable “DC A” range.
3. Connect the measuring cables with the measured circuit in a serial fashion.
4. Read the measured current from the display.
Alternating voltage measuring
1. Plug the red measuring cable in the “VΩmA” socket and the black cable in the
“COM” socket.
2. Switch the switching button to a suitable “AC V” range.
3. Connect the measuring cables with the measured circuit in a parallel fashion.
4. Read the displayed voltage from the display.
5. If the switch is set to 750V and “HV” appears on the display, it signals that a
hazardous voltage level has been reached.
Resistance measuring
1. Plug the red measuring cable in the “VΩmA” socket and the black cable in the
“COM” socket.
2. Switch the switching button to a suitable “Ω” range.
3. Connect the measuring cables to the measured resistance.
4. If the measured resistance is connected in a circuit with a power supply, the power
supply needs to be switched off and all circuit capacitors discharged. Only then the
measuring cable can be connected to the measured resistance.
hFE transistor measuring
1. Switch the switching button to the hFE position.
2. Plug the transistor outlets (E, B, C) in suitable sockets in the outlet located on the
front panel.
Temperature measuring
1. Plug the cable for temperature measuring in the “VΩmA” and “COM” sockets.
2. Switch the switching button to the “ºC” position.
3. When touching a measured object, its temperature will appear on the display.
Diode measuring
1. Plug the red measuring cable in the “VΩmA” socket and the black cable in the
“COM” socket.
2. Switch the switching button to the “
|
” position.
3. Connect the measuring cables to the measured diode (the red cable to the anode
and the black cable to the cathode).
4. The measured value will appear in mV. If the diode is defective, “1” will appear.
Measuring conductivity using audible warning
1. Plug the red measuring cable in the “VΩmA” socket and the black cable in the
“COM” socket.
2. Switch the switching button to the “
•))
” position.
3. Connect the measuring cables with the measured circuit in a serial fashion.
4. A buzzer will ring if the resistance is below 70Ω.
Alternating current generator
1. Plug the red measuring cable in the “VΩmA” socket and the black cable in the
“COM” socket.
2. Switch the switching button to the “hFE” position.
3. The multimeter generates 5V pp signal with the frequency of 50Hz.
The memory function
If you press the “HOLD” button during measuring, the last measured value will
remain displayed on the display until the button is pressed again.
IV. Battery and fuse replacement
If “BATT” appears on the display, the battery needs replacing. When replacing a
battery or a fuse, unscrew the 2 screws at the back, remove the defective fuse or
discharged battery and insert a new one. Secure the cover using the two screws.
Battery type: 9V NEDA 1604, IEC 6F22/6LR61
Warning:
•
When replacing the fuse, replace the defective fuse with the same type (V, mA).
•
Before opening the cover, make sure that the measuring cables are disconnected
from the measured circuit to avoid electric shock.
•
Do not interfere with the wiring; use a common cloth to the clean the appliance
and allow it to dry thoroughly; do not use solvents for cleaning
