Further  setup  parameters  will  be  listed  on  the  Machine  Setup  Options  pop-up,
depending  on  which  protocol  has  been  selected.  Note  that  electing  Teac  LV210
produces no other options.

DCTM Machines

Selecting 

DCTM 

produces  the  following  list  of  parameters.  If  a  machine  has  been

selected  from  the  Machines  list,  values  for  these  parameters  will  be  those
recommended  by  SSL.  If  you  are  creating  parameters  for  a  new  machine,  seek  help
from  your  local  SSL  office  or  distributor  if  you  are  unclear  as  to  the  effect  each
parameter may have on the performance of the machine under J Series control. 

Each time a major software update is released, an updated set of machine parameters
will be provided. If you feel you have improved on the SSL settings, we would like to
hear from you!

Pulses  per  Second

–  The  machine’s  tachometer  rate  per  second  at  standard  play

speed.  Stabbing  on  the  current  entry  gives  you  the  option  to  have  the  computer  put
the  machine  into  Play  and  measure  the  rate  (select 

Automatic

).  Alternatively,  select

Edit 

and enter a known value. 

Forward  Direction  Sense

–  Toggle  this  to  the  level,  High  or  Low,  on  the  direction

sense line when the machine is in Play.

Note that a password protected facility in the 

MISC

/

System

/

Diagnostic

menu can be

used  to  determine  the  correct  settings  for  the  above  parameters.  Contact  your  local
SSL office or distributor for more details.

Drop In with Play + Record

– This should be set according to the requirements of this

machine to enter record, ie. Play and Record simultaneously (

Transport  Layout

sorted out by the system.

Drop Out with Stop + Play

– This should be set according to the requirements to drop

Timecode from Input

– There are four timecode inputs to the computer on a 25-way

‘D’  connector  on  the  computer’s  rear  panel.  Stab  to  select  the  correct  input  for  the

Target Window

– This is the window in which the computer will park the machine at

the target. Stab on the current entry to enter a new value.

Decision Interval

– This is how often the chase algorithm checks where the machine is

when locating. Stab on the current entry to enter a new value.

Note  that  the  locate  table  (see  Page  3-29)  is  automatically  re-initialised  when  either
