Logictivity, Projects and Data Management
Projects
The SE software introduces the concept of bundling information into a single ‘Project’ and ‘Title’ to the
AWS 900 platform. This was originally developed for the Duality large format console, and later extended to the
Matrix analogue controller. Unlike these products the AWS 900 does not have on board storage, so projects are
initially saved in memory, and wil be lost if the console is turned off. Projects can be permanently stored on a Mac
or PC via a network connection as a single zip file containing all the Mixes, TR setups, channel scribble strip names
and project notes currently saved in memory. A separate ‘AWS 900 Remote’ application running on the Mac or PC
is used as the interface. Archived console data is in standard zip format and can be sent via email, transferred to
a USB stick, etc. greatly simplifying data exchange between sessions.
AWS 900 Remote
The AWS 900 Remote also allows re-naming of mixes, TR setups, channel scribble strips and monitor external
sources and the inclusion of session specific notes.
The Browser software is a Java application that runs on both Mac and PC. Section 3 describes how to install the
application and how to configure the network connection to the console. Note that the network connection can also
be used to connect MIDI data between console and computer. Again Section 3 details how to download and
configure the ipMIDI virtual MIDI interface driver.
MIDI SysEx data
Mixes and TR Setups saved as MIDI SysEx dumps using earlier versions of sofware can be uploaded using either
ipMIDI port 8 or MIDI port 4 (dependent on which MIDI system is enabled in the desk MISC/SETUP menu), then
saved off as part of a new Project.
Existing users who chose not to purchase the Logictivity upgrade can install the latest version of software, taking
adavantage of the bug fixes and none network features included in this version, and will still be able to archive
Mixes and TR Setups using the standard MIDI ports.
Chapters 6 (Total Recall) and 7 (Automation) detail how to to use this feature.
Software Updates
On Logicitivity enabled consoles future console software updates can be carried out via Ethernet as well as MIDI,
significantly improving the speed of console software upgrades.
Existing Clients
Existing AWS 900 and AWS 900+ consoles can benefit from the feature set of the AWS 900+SE, by the purchase
of an upgrade kit . The AWS 900+ SE Upgrade is sold through SSL Console Distributors. To locate your local SSL
Console Distributor visit http://www.solidstatelogic.com/locator/
Note that the AWS900 requires an update to the processor firmware to run the SE software. This is
included in the upgrade kit. consoles will support SE software without modification.
