3. Battery installation and status
The EPF30 uses a 9V DC MN 1604 battery - Remove the screw securing the
battery compartment, (be careful not to loose it). Slide the cover down and
connect the battery ensuring correct polarity. Relocate the cover and re
tighten the screw. After inserting batteries and before use test the unit for
correct operation.
To check battery status
, with nothing connected press and release the test
button. The red LED will blink with an audible bleep to indicate correct
operation and memory scanning functions operating. Press and hold down the
test button for over a second to power off. The EPF30 has an auto power
function to preserve battery life. The unit will power off after three minutes of
inactivity. Dispose of used batteries as required by local regulations.
4. Usage
The EPF30 uses patented “True Phase Locate” memory scanning to eliminate
false signals. This gives a positive indication of live phases.
The test button can be momentarily pressed at any time to clear and reset the
memory function. This feature helps to ‘focus’ on true live conductors if there
are many open circuit conductors in a cable bundle or terminal block.
To use the memory scanning feature momentarily press the memory scanning
button (to reset the memory)and sequentially touch the tip to each conductor
If the tester still detects more than one live signal repeat the test keeping the tip
in place on each conductor for a minimum of 2 seconds. The memory will then
lock onto the true signal until only live conductors are found.
