ELECTRIC FISH HANDLING GLOVES
www.smith-root.com
QUICK START
• Use the
red/positive
wire on the hand that
holds the
head end of
the fish
• Placing activated gloves
in a tank of water with
fish will often elicit a
flight response.
• Gloves will only function
when both hands are in
contact with fish.
• Conductive materials,
like metal tables, will
transfer electricity. A
thin rubber or plastic
sheet on the table will
reduce electric stray and
ensure that the current
flows through the fish.
• Handling fish with the
gloves often allows for
continued fish respira-
tion. Hold the tail out
of water with one hand
and the head under
water with the other
hand (keeping one hand
out of water will pre-
vent stray electric flow
through the water).
• Wires can be routed un-
der a long-sleeved gar-
ment for increased wire
management.
• Arm straps can be used
over snaps to ensure a
secure connection.
• Gloves should be rinsed
and dried following use.
• Cotton or wool gloves
saturated with water can
be worn over conductive
gloves and replaced as
needed for slime protec-
tion.
