Installation manual WKP type multi-blade fire damper

Version: 2.0.1

Installation manual

Prior to the installation, fire dampers should be checked whether there has been no

damage to the dampers during transportation or storage. Then carry out opening and

closing in order to test the proper operation. Both opening and closing should proceed

smoothly. During the testing of WKP-T fire damper, check the operation of the ratchet

mechanism by cutting off the power and waiting approx. 1-4 seconds (lock response time)

from the time of cutting of the power to the release of the release mechanism.

Lightweight partition walls

made of plasterboards

The fire dampers, to maintain declared EI120 fire resistance class, should be installed in

plasterboard walls which are verified and classified as EI120. The supporting structure of

a partition wall are the steel studs made of cold rolled galvanized sheet steel. There are

two layers of plasterboards 12,5  [mm]  thick mounted to each side of the steel sections.
Plasterboards

should be

mounted in such way, that their vertical and horizontal joints on

one layer do not coincide with joints on adjacent layers. Boards are mounted with use of

quick-mounting screws. Mineral wool is used as a filling of the wall.

INSTALLATION TECHNOLOGY

According to the Figure 1

1.

Make a rectangular opening in the wall with dimensions: (A+315) x (B+240).

2.

Place the mounting sections made of cold rolled sheet steel (fig. 1) on the inner side

of the installation opening.

3.

Screw previously prepared plasterboards to the fixed sections:

a.

With thickness of 12,5 [mm] and width of 125 [mm] – 8 pcs. Two by wto on
both sides of the installation opening;

b.

With thickness of 12,5 [mm] and width of 40 [mm] – 3 pcs. Directly adjacent

to the spacer insulating the body of the device.

4.

Fill the steel flanges of the fire damper with mineral wool with minimum density

of 150 [kg/m

3

].

5.

Put the fire damper into installation opening and screw the body with screws

through the plasterboard slats to the steel sections of the partition wall. Arrange 2-4
screws on each horizontal section of the body frame and 2-4 screws on vertical

sections of the steel frame on the opposite side of the lever mechanism.

6.

Secure the holes near the actuator casing, created as a result of installing the fire

damper. In order to do it, cut 4 steel C-sections with length less than 140 [mm] and

screw it to the lower and the upper surface of the casing and the horizontal steel

bars of the partition wall (leading screws through the slats from point 3). Fill the
surface of the holes with mineral wool with density recommended by the

manufacturer of the wall, and then fix two plasterboards on both sides of the wall.

7.

Fill the gaps between the outside dimension of the fire damper and the edges of the

installation opening with mineral wool with density recommended by the

manufacturer.

8.

Cover the edges  of the fire damper with flange, made of plasterboards with

thickness of 12,5 [mm] on both sides of the wall, screwing it to the sections of the
partition wall and the edges of the fire damper.
