Access Management
29
IP Firmware Update
You can prevent firmware updates to be performed on your
unit through the IP network. By default, this type of update
is allowed.
For more information about firmware updates, refer to the
SConfigurator User Manual.
Telnet Session
By default, you can use Telnet to access the CLI of your unit.
To improve the security of your system, you may prohibit
such an access. In this case, the CLI will only be accessible
through a serial connection (with the SConfigurator console
or HyperTerminal).
HTTP Access
By default, you can access the configuration pages of the
unit through the Web interface. If you block this access, you
can only set up the S1600e unit with SConfigurator, Telnet,
or a serial connection.
Secure HTTP Access
By default, you access the Web interface of the unit in
unsecure mode (that is, with an
http://
address prefix). You
can restrict this access to SSL connections only, with
https://
, provided the unit has an SSL certificate. After you
activate the secure HTTP access, the user accounts
(described on page 27) are automatically activated.
Global Security Profile
This command is available if the unit has an SSL certificate.
If you activate the global security profile, the unit will only
accept secure SSL connections. Once this profile is activated
on a unit:
You cannot access it anymore with Telnet.
You cannot perform firmware updates through the IP
network on it.
You access its Web interface in a secure mode (that is,
the secure HTTP access mode is enabled).
