6. FAX function
Sending fax message to and from PSTN
FAX call to PSTN routed from FXS to FXO interface (DialThru gateway) works on
every model and needn’t any other settings.
GSM fax message
SmartGate with fax converter has ability to send and receive GSM fax messages
using analogue fax Group 3 connected to telephone line FXS. The fax communication
service must be registered with your GSM operator.

, to inform the Gateway, that the call is a fax
call.
Receiving a fax message from GSM
It is recommended to activate separate fax number on your SIM card –
multinumbering scheme
. Fax messages should be routed to this number, the
message will be than received as fax message automatically.
If the fax number is not activated, the call from analogue network routed to your GSM
number is not detected as fax call and is routed via the analogue channel of GSM
network and the connection is not successful. In this case it is possible to activate fax
engine in the gateway to receive the next call as fax call: Hook off, dial the code
*9901#
and hook on again. After this the gateway is prepared to receive a fax call from
analogue network. After receiving the fax this setting is suspended.
