Safety Information
Improper repair and maintenance may endanger human lives!!! For safety reasons, repairs may be carried
out only after consultation with the manufacturer! If this is not the case, any guarantee expires and
SKYLOTEC GmbH assumes no liability.
Do not use grease!
General safety information
The climbing protection system is only guaranteed when a catching device is used, which has been tested
together with the ladder as a fall arrest system and certified in accordance with
DIN EN 353-1:2014-12
and
it complies with the relevant provisions
of Directive 89/686/EEC. If this is not the case, human lives are in danger, since climbing protection
systems are only checked and approved as a unit!
Similarly, if the above is not the case, SKYLOTEC GmbH does not assume any liability and the
operator/user acts exclusively at his or her own risk!
15.3 Maintenance and care
The SKYTAC system does not need any special care.
Pay attention to cleanliness of the guide rail and the catching device. The system must be checked by
SKYLOTEC or their certified representatives at least once per year.
A download is available on the Skylotec homepage for this annual check, where you can obtain the test
sheet and report sheets.
15.4 Service life
The service life depends on the individual operating conditions. All system elements are made of corrosion-
resistant steel and are thus resistant to weathering and require little maintenance. Under optimum
operating conditions, a useful life of 15 years can be expected, although unrestricted usage should always
be confirmed by an annual inspection by a certified representative. We offer a 5-year warranty if the stop
device and the fall arrest runner are checked at least once per year by SKYLOTEC or a certified
representative. During such inspections, the qualified person is also entitled to decide whether the anchor
point is suitable for further use. After a fall occurs, the device must be locked and removed from further
use.
The device must be checked by a certified professional and repaired if necessary. Only then may it be
approved for further use. Because our systems are electrically conductive, they must be properly integrated
into the lightning protection/potential equalisation system in accordance with the DIN VDE 0185 standard,
provided such a system is present.
