Roof box
Dear customer! Read this manual carefully before installing the roof box on the roof rack of
your vehicle.
Do not mount or use the roof box (hereafter simply referred to as “box”) if you do not
understand the mounting instructions. Please contact an authorised ŠKODA AUTO dealer if
you have any queries.
The roof box is compatible with all ŠKODA vehicle types that have the original roof rack in the
equipment specification.
Caution! The box can only be installed on roof racks with a T-slot (open load-
bearing profile). The box cannot be fitted to vehicles with a closed roof rack
profile (e.g. Fabia I (6Y), Octavia I (1U)).
The box is made of >ABS<.
Order the roof box according to the version:
- Roof Box - silver
order No. 000 071 175C
- Roof Box - black order No. 000 071 175D
Range of applications
The box is used to transport large items (e.g. skis, camping equipment, children’s golf buggies,
etc.).
The box is not absolutely waterproof - protect the transported load against moisture.
The box weighs 24,9 kg when empty.
The maximum load of the box is 75 kg.
The vehicle’s maximum roof load, which includes the combined weight of the rack, box and
luggage, depends on the vehicle type (see the vehicle documentation).
For safety reasons, the maximum roof load must never be exceeded.
The vehicle may handle slightly differently when travelling with the box fitted and must the-
refore be driven at a suitable speed for the prevailing conditions. Do not exceed 130 km/h.
Always observe the safety regulations applicable in each country when transporting a load.

Mounting procedure
Mounting the roof rack. When mounting the roof rack, follow the procedure given in the
relevant mounting instructions for the roof rack.
Always choose the largest possible distance between the roof bars (crossbars).

› Remove the protective rubber strips from the original roof rack bars.
› To open the box, turn the key to the left and lift the lid. Always use both hands to fold up.

› Loosen all the plastic head screws inside the box so that the fasteners visible on the bottom of
the box are sufficiently extended (approx. 5 mm).
› Loosen the straps between the screws for better handling.
