Installing the cable gland
In order to secure the vessel’s watertight integrity, it is extremely important that the
transducer cable penetrates the ship’s hull in a safe manner. One suggested method is
to use a cable gland. The cable gland consists of a bushing, rubber gasket, washers
and a packing nipple.
Prerequisites
Before you can install bushing, the following prerequisites must be met:
• The transducer cable must be fitted with the rubber gasket, washers and packing
nipple.
• The installation arrangement has been approved by the relevant authority.
• All relevant personnel (skilled shipyard workers, ships electricians) and relevant
tools must be available.
