SYMPTOM
INSPECT
ACTION
Check connections to Speed input.
Ensure connections are clean and tight
and pinouts are correctly followed.
Check if Speed sensor is fouled or
damaged.
Remove sensor (placing supplied
dummy plug in hole). Check
paddlewheel operation. Measure output
voltage as paddlewheel turns.
Check connections between CPU PCB
and Speed input.
Repair connections as necessary.
Check jumper configuration on CPU
PCB.
Configure jumper JP2 for type of sensor
used.
Temperature Sensor does not work.
Is the Temperature input turned ON in
the Configuration Menu?
Turn Temperature input ON in the
Configuration Menu.
Check connections to Temperature
input.
Ensure connections are clean and tight
and pinouts are correctly followed.
Check connections between CPU PCB
(J8) and Temperature input.
Repair connections as necessary.
Check resistance of Temperature sensor
(see Technical Specifications).
Replace sensor if necessary.
Operates OK at slow boat speeds, loses
targets at higher speeds
Is aerated water passing under transducer
and blocking signals?
Consider different mounting for
transducer to avoid aeration. See
Transducer section.
NMEA interface does not work.
Is the NMEA interface turned ON in the
Configuration Menu?
Turn NMEA interface ON in the
Configuration Menu.
Is the correct data being sent?
The EQ 55 receives "GLL" (latitude &
longitude).
The EQ 55 sends "DBT" (depth below
transducer) and "DBS" (depth below
surface).
Check the wiring from external device to
EQ 55 terminal strip.
Correct wiring: EQ 55 input is labeled
"A" & "B". A is signal, B is return (input
is floating and optically isolated)
EQ 55 output (labeled "Tx" & "Gnd") is
±12 Vdc.
