4.1
BOILER ROOM
Make sur e t he r equir ements and
f eatur es of t he r oom compl y wit h
current standards. Moreover, in the
room there must be at least as much
air coming in as the amount of air
required for regular combustion.
Therefore it is best to make some
openings on the wall of the room based
on the requirements below:
– With a free section of at least 6
cm
2
f or each 1.163 kW (1000
kcal/h).
The minimum cross-section of the
opening must in any case not be
less t han 100 cm
2
. The cr oss-
section can be also calculat ed
based on the following formula:
where “S” is expressed in cm
2
, “Q”
in kcal/h.
– The opening must be located at the
bo tt om of an ext er nal wall,
preferably opposite the one where
the flue gases come out.
4.1.1
Positioning the boiler
in the heating system (fig. 4)
Once t he ins t allation has been
comple t ed, t he boiler mus t be
horizontal and steady to reduce any
vibrations and noise.
It is necessary to leave a gap behind
the boiler in order to allow to open the
fan and conduct maintenance on it.
CAUTION: Carefully follow minimum
clearances indicated in the figure.
4.2
CONNECTION
TO THE CHIMNEY FLUE
A chimney flue must have the following
requirements:
– It must be made with waterproof
material and be resilient to the
temperature of the flue gases and
relative condensation.
– It must have enough mechanical
s tr engt h and a low t her mal
conductivity.
– It must be perfectly airtight to avoid
cooling down the chimney flue itself.
– It must be as vertical as possible
and the end part must have a static
extractor that ensures an efficient
and const ant evacuation of the
mat er ial gener at ed by t he
combustion process.
– To prevent the wind from creating
pressure areas around the chimney
stack that would prevail over the lift
force of combustion gases, the
discharge opening must be located
at leas t 0.4 me t er s above any
structure adjacent the chimney
itself (including the ridge of the roof)
less than 8 metres away.
– The diameter of the chimney flue
must not be smaller than the boiler
connection's diameter. For chimney
flues with a square or rectangular
cross-section, the internal cross-
section must be 10% larger than
that of the boiler fitting.
– The available cross-section of the
chimney f lue can be calculat ed
based on the following formula:
S resulting cross-section in cm
2
K reduction coefficient:
– 0.045 for wood
– 0.030 for coal
P boiler output in kcal/h
H height of the chimney in metres
measured from the flame's axis
at the chimney's outlet into the
atmosphere. When choosing
the size of the chimney flue, it is
necessary to take into account
the actual height of the chimney
in meters measured from the
axis of the flame at the top,
reduced by:
– 0.50 m for every change of
direction of the connecting
conduit between the boiler
and the chimney flue;
– 1 m for every metre of the
f itting itself developed
horizontally.
4.3
SYSTEM CONNECTION
The connections need to be easy to
disconnect via pipe unions wit h
rotating fittings.
We always recommend mounting
suitable shut-off gates on the pipes of
the heating system.
CAUTION: It is mandatory to mount
the safety valve (not included in the
supply) on the system.
