3.12 NON-LINEAR JUNCTION DETECTOR OPTION (only for ST131N)
This option provides an analysis of wire lines connected to the presence of electronic elements
with non-linear characteristics - diodes, transistors, etc. They are, as a rule, power supply elements and
input overvoltage protection elements.
The principle is based on the generation of a stable sinusoidal signal to the line and analyzing
the presence of the third harmonic of this signal, indicating that the line is connected to a non-linear
element.
Option is activated from MENU by pressing "SELECT CHANNEL" item and select "NON-
LINEAR JUNCTION DETECTOR” item from the start menu.
After selecting this option on the screen displaying the scale of the signal level with all the
pairs numbers of contacts of the RJ-45 connector and the inscription "Сycle of preparing ... XX%",
indicating the passage of a period of adaptation to the connected line (XX - percentage of completion
of the process of adaptation).

CONTEXT BUTTON FUNCTIONS ______________________________________________
- Forced adaptation
- Choosing between automatic (highlighted in red) and the serial manual control pairs.
- Selecting dynamic range display.
In the process of adaptation performs adjust the level of the second and third harmonic to the level of
the signal generator. Device must be disconnected from the line during adaptation.
Consecutive measurement and indication of the level of the second and third harmonic is started
automatically after adaptation (Figure 41). An analyzing pair is highlighted in green.
When an electronic device with non-linear components in its input circuits is connected to the explored
wire line, level of the third harmonic of the test signal is rising in position 2 at the figure 41 and position
3 at the figure 42.
