The Activation Wizard
After you install the Watcher software as described in the
previous chapter, you must set up your account before you can
use the MP 555 GPS modem.
Each MP 555 GPS has been provisioned at the factory for use
with a particular service provider. This sets the modem to
particular radio channels and enables services for a specific
provider.
The process of setting up your account is called
this process, the service provider creates an account that is
associated with your device and you must configure your
device to use that account. If you purchased the MP 555 GPS
directly from a service provider you may already have an
account; your modem may be pre-activated.
The MP 555 GPS allows for two accounts to be configured.
The Activation Wizard
The Activation Wizard guides you through the process of
setting up your account.
There are two methods of activation:
Manual activation involves phoning your service
provider, exchanging information, and entering your
account information into the appropriate fields in the
wizard.
Automated activation involves the MP 555 GPS placing a
call to a special number at the service provider. Much of
the process is automated.
The wizard varies based on the service provider for which the
modem was provisioned, and it may be that only one option is
available to you.
