APOGEE Wireless User Guide
Upon binding a RSX and WRS together, the WRS/RSX channel is set to 15 and auto-channel changing
(AUTO) is enabled at both devices.
This is done regardless of what the previous WRS/RSX channel
setting was (either AUTO or 1 – 15)
.
Binding Using WRS HMI Commands
Through the BIND RSX command, you associate a WRS with a speci
fi
c RSX/TEC. Sensor information is
processed only by the RSX bound to the WRS.
To bind the WRS/RSX pair using HMI commands:
1. Connect a computer cable (540-143) from a computer to the RJ-11 port on the bottom of the WRS.
The WRS wakes up and remains active for the amount of time speci
fi
ed by its HMI port timeout setting
(default = 5 minutes). If the WRS returns to sleep mode before you are done, disconnect and then
reconnect the cable to the WRS port.
2. Start a HyperTerminal session, log on (1200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no
fl
ow control), and
then press
ENTER
to display the HMI prompt.
If there is no communication with the WRS, verify that the battery is properly inserted and the plastic
insulating strip is removed.
3. Type
BIND RSX
a
(
a
= last 4 digits of RSX’s EUID) and press
ENTER
.
4. When the WRS and RSX successfully bind:
•
The RSX’s indicator light is solid yellow for 10 seconds.
•
The WRS issues a
CHECK RSX
command to verify wireless link quality.
5. If the CHECK RSX command shows that communication is poor (less than 90%), then the RSX and/or
WRS should be physically repositioned to increase the link quality above 90%.
If a bound WRS cannot communicate with its RSX, it uses battery power at
approximately twice the normal rate in its attempt to get a response from the RSX.
Keep this in mind if the WRS loses communication with its RSX during normal
operation or is temporarily stored away from its associated RSX.
Binding Using Auto-Binding Cable
You can use an optional auto-binding cable (563-207) to automatically bind a WRS with a speci
fi
c RSX/TEC
without using HMI commands. Sensor information is processed only by the RSX bound to the WRS.
To bind the WRS/RSX pair using the auto-binding cable:
1. Plug the cable end labeled
Room Sensor Port
to the RJ-11 port on the bottom of the WRS.
2. Plug other end of cable to the RJ-11 port on the RSX.
