SIVACON S4 - ALPHA
Operation, maintenance and electrical start-up
Operation, maintenance and
electrical start-up
To ensure reliable and safe operation,
it is necessary to define a maintenance
and checking schedule. In order to
prevent dangerous situations caused by
transport as:
• presence of dust or foreign bodies;
• frame and bus-bar fasteners
mechanical loosing;
it is necessary to take apart panels,
walls and covers to proceed to internal
inspection. Before powering the panel,
it is important following the below
checks.
Mechanical checks
• Fastening switchboard to the floor
or wall
• Fastening holes in metal walls of
the cables must correspond to cable
diameter, in agreement with required
IP protection degree
• Checking mechanical connections
between frames
• Checking damage due to transport
• Checking presence of foreign bodies
• Remove the dust and any pieces of
cables, wires, screws, etc.
• Cleaning interior space, above all
insulating parts (e.g. supports and
insulators) using clean dry rags
• Checking electrical continuity:
presence of contact screws which
ensure electrical continuity at assembly
level (between cubicles, walls, panels,
partitions)
Electrical checks (before power-up)
• Check air and surface isolation
distances, with special regard to input/
output lines
• Cables, number and cross-section
• Compatibility between cable or fair-
lead cross-section with connection in
switch or terminal strip
• Quality of cable or bus-bar routes into
the panel.
• Checking the presence of PE
conductors (Standard CEI EN 61439-1
paragraph 8.4.3.2.2)
• Checking electrical continuity between
grounds (protection circuit) of the
switchboards and the system protection
conductors
• Electrical connections: visual and
tightening checks
• Protection circuit: tightening and
electrical continuity checks
• Check conformity to wiring diagrams,
names and applicable standards.
Degree of protection
• Make sure that the degree of
protection assigned to board by the
manufacturer has been complied with
(attained to)
