Description of the PGU and the features implemented in the 

simulation model 

Power generating unit (PGU), type SINAMICS PCS comprises the following components: 

 

Active Interface Module of the SINAMICS S120 series of Siemens AG 

 

Active Line Module of the SINAMICS S120 series of Siemens AG 

 

An energy source connected to the device DC connection. 

The hardware-related closed-loop control of the PGU is realized in the CU320-2 Control 

Module. 
The SINAMICS firmware was extended to include a DCC chart to implement the requirements 

of VDE-AR-N 4110.

Description of the features implemented in the SINAMICS PCS simulation model 

The simulation model models the following: 

 

Grid reactor and inverter 

 

Closed-loop control of the active and reactive current in undisturbed operation and for 

dynamic grid faults 

 

Closed-loop control of the DC voltage 

 

Closed-loop reactive power control 
Here, only the direct setpoint input is taken into consideration. 

A simulation in the cos phi closed-loop control/Q(U)/Q(P) operating mode is not part of the 

model. 

 

Controlled reduction of the active power for overfrequency conditions and when specified 

by the grid operator 

 

Grid protection and/or grid monitoring 

The model can be adapted to various PGU application conditions. The grid connection voltage 

and the rated current of the PGU can be parameterized.
