5.3.7
Putting the machine down
Requirements
The following preconditions must be satisfied before setting down the machine at the
installation location:
● The mating faces must be clean.
● The anti-corrosion protection paint has been removed from the mating faces, such as the
machine mounting feet, flange, ...
● There is no condensation present within the machine.
Setting down the machine
● Set down the machine slowly and carefully at the installation location to avoid any impact.
5.3.8
Drain condensate
Plugs are provided in the flange end shield at the DE or in the end shield at the NDE through
which condensation freely drains. The degree of protection of the motor is maintained.
Use compressed air to regularly clean the plugs or when dirt accumulates, so that the
condensation always freely drains.
NOTICE
Damage due to condensation
Under the following conditions it is possible that condensate may accumulate within the
machine:
● Wide fluctuations in the ambient temperature, such as direct sunshine combined with high
atmospheric humidity
● Intermittent operation or load fluctuations during operation
If the stator winding is damp, its insulation resistance will be reduced. This can result in voltage
flashovers, which can destroy the winding. Condensate can also cause rust to form within
the machine.
● Blow out the plugs regularly with compressed air so that the condensation can freely flow
out.
