This section describes how to connect to and manage the device.
3.1
Connecting to the Device
The following describes the various methods for accessing the RUGGEDCOM
RUGGEDCOM RS940GF console and Web interfaces on the device. For more detailed
instructions, refer to the
RUGGEDCOM RUGGEDCOM RS940GF User Guide
for the
RUGGEDCOM RS940GF.
IMPORTANT
Ethernet cables should be only be connected/disconnected in a non-hazardous area,
or when the device is not energized.
RS232 Serial Console Port
Connect a PC or terminal directly to the serial console port to access the boot-time
control and RUGGEDCOM RUGGEDCOM ROS console interface.
IMPORTANT
The serial console port is intended to be used only as a temporary connection during
initial configuration or troubleshooting, and should only be used in a safe area (as
defined by IEC 60079-0, Edition 6.0).
The serial console port implements RS-232 DCE (Data Communication Equipment) on
a DB9 connector. Use the following settings to connect to either port:
