3.2.1

Selecting the power leads

The core cross-section of the power leads must be matched to the respective 
ambient conditions. The decisive factors for choosing the core cross-section are 
as follows:
• set current on the device
• method of installation
• ambient temperature 
• type of material (PVC, rubber)

For PVC power leads installed in a cable duct, for example, the maximum cur-
rent carrying capacity as a function of ambient temperature is as follows:
