7.1
SOPAS ET configuration software
The SOPAS ET configuration software is used for parameterization and servicing pur‐
poses (e.g., diagnostics, data logger, firmware update). The device outputs the recorded
images to SOPAS ET for display. Once the scan characteristics of the device have been
adjusted using the function button, use SOPAS ET to continue the configuration process
(reading clock, result formats, output data interface, etc.).
Use SOPAS ET version 3.0 or above.
Requirements

Computer with the SOPAS ET software installed
•
Ethernet connection
•
SDD file (device description file)
NOTE
The most up-to-date version of the SOPAS ET software can be downloaded from
. The respective system requirements for installing SOPAS ET
are also specified there.
NOTE
You can install the SDD file using the device catalog in SOPAS ET. Use the wizard in
SOPAS ET to do this. The SDD file can be installed from the device or the SICK website.
To install it from the SICK website, you need an Internet connection.
Installing and launching SOPAS ET
1.
Start computer.
2.
Install the latest version of the SOPAS ET configuration software and the current
device description file (SDD file) for the device variant. In this case, select the
“Complete” option as suggested by the installation wizard. Administrator rights
may be required on the computer to install the software.
3.
Start “SOPAS ET” after completing the installation.
4.
Establish a connection between SOPAS ET and the device.

The connection wizard starts automatically.
The following IP addresses are configured by default on the device:

IP address P1: 192.168.0.1
°
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Double-click on the desired device to add it to the project.

To open the device window, double-click the device in the
New Project
window.

Select display of the user interface.

SOPAS ET establishes communication with the device and loads the associated
device description file for the device.

In the
Wizard
window, click on the
Code Reading
button.

The
Initial Setup
window appears.
9.
Position the code within the displayed region. Follow the instructions.

The effects of any parameter changes are directly visible.
✓
The device will continuously record images and automatically attempt to find the
appropriate settings for the image and the decoder. If the read is successful, these
settings can be saved directly.
