General information
Please read this document carefully before using the wire draw encoder. Pay attention to the safety
instructions! Improper handling and carelessness while mounting, damages at the device or accidents
can happened. The mounting instructions are part of your product. Please keep them close to the
device.
Intended use
Your are only allowed to mount, use and maintain the wire draw encoder if you

are a specialist
x
are authorized by your company.
The wire draw encoder should only be used according to the technical data. Unauthorized modifications
on the Rope Length Transmitter are not allowed. For resulting damages, we do not take liability. In case
of further developments we reserve the right of technical changes. We do not guarantee the product
data indicated.
Safety instructions
During the normal operation no dangers existing after our level of knowledge. The biggest danger is a
braking wire, which can only be happened while fault using or while not keeping the operation
parameter.
Possible reasons for a broken or damaged wire
x
Exceed of the maximal measuring length
x
Damages at the wire through sharp edges and/or objects in the measuring range
(The measuring range has to be free and secured so that there is no possibility to damage the
measuring wire)
x
Wire has been squeezed or dejected
Do not pull directly on the wire to avoid kinks/damages! Please only pull on the wire end ring!
Please do never let draw in the measuring wire unhindered (pull out the measuring
wire and let snap back)!
Switch off the voltage of all devices which are concerned of the mounting!
Do not open the device, as the biased power spring can force dangerous injuries!
Mounting
the
device
Measuring drum of draw wire mechanism is protected by a transport lock. Transport lock has to be
removed before installation (please refer mounting instructions). For further transport of unit you can
use transportation lock again. Two-way mounting is possible!
The unit ist o be mounted on a plane mounting surface. Thereby using either threaded holes located on
2 casing sides of the unit or through borings at top side. Mounting position shall be selected in such way
that wire mechanism is operated upright. Please refer to attached dimension diagrams for dimensions
and distance of threaded holes. While mounting, please pay attention that the wire outlet is aligned to
the wire end ring. As soon as the wire draw mechanism is fastened, the wire and ring can be fastened
at a moveable object. Transport lock ferrule (red) has to be detached. The screws to fix the wire draw
mechanism are not included in the scope of delivery, because their length depends on the application.
Attention! Please hold the wire very tight.
If the wire snap back it can cause damages at the wire and injuries!
The following application hints has to be taken into consideration.
