In order to use router bits, you must first convert
the shaper to a router table. Refer to
Router.Table.

The Model W1701W comes with
1

" router bit
collets. When installing router bits, make sure that the
router bits are secure before starting the machine. A
loose router bit may fly out of the spindle.

To.install.the.router.bit.collet,.do.these.steps:
1.
DISCONNECT
MACHINE FROM POWER!
2.
Remove spindle cartridge assembly (see
Spindle
Cartridge Replacement on Page 40).
3.
Push the collet into the collet nut until the off-
center lip of the collet nut snaps into the collet
groove (see
Figure.28
).

Note:
This lip and groove pulls the collet from the
spindle when the collet nut is removed.
4.
Place the collet nut and collet into the spindle, as
shown in
Figure.29.
5.
Finger-tighten the collet nut onto the spindle until it
is flush with the top of the collet nut.
6.
Insert the router bit.
7.
Hold spindle with 24mm spindle wrench (see
Figure.
30-A
), and tighten collet nut with 30mm open-end
wrench
,
securing the router bit (see
Figure.30-B
).
An.improperly.installed.or.secured.router.bit.and.
collet.may.fly.out.of.spindle.during.operation,.which.
may.cause.very.serious.injury.to.operator.and.
bystanders.
