Listening to sounds in the Dolby Virtual
Speaker mode (DVS)
Even when you cannot place the surround speakers behind due to a shortage of
space, etc., you can enjoy surround effects similar to those for the 5.1 multi channel
surround sound using Dolby Virtual Speaker processing.
Note:
The DVS mode is cancelled when the MULTI-CH or STEREO button is pressed.
1 Whilst the disc is playing, press the STEREO or
MULTI-CH button.
2 Set the MODE 1/MODE 2 switch to MODE 2 and
press the DVS button.
3 Within 3 seconds, press the or button.
2 channel playback
DVS OFF:
Normal 2 channel stereo sound.
DVS ON:
Virtual surround effects are created behind
whilst only the front speakers are placed in
front.
DVS WIDE:
Virtual surround effects are created in front
and behind whilst only the front speakers are
placed.
5.1 channel playback
DVS OFF:
Normal multi channel mode.
DVS ON:
Virtual surround effects are created behind
whilst the front and surround speakers are
placed in front.
The physical speakers are shown in solid lines in the fig-
ure, virtual speakers in dotted lines.
2 channel playback
A three-speaker listening environment both with and without Dolby Virtual Speaker
processing.
You can enjoy the following surround effects using Dolby Virtual Speaker processing
even in the stereo mode.
5.1 channel playback
A five-speaker listening environment both with and without Dolby Virtual Speaker
processing.
You can enjoy the following surround sounds using Dolby Virtual Speaker process-
ing even when you need to place the surround speakers in front due to a shortage
of space, etc.
Note:
For 5.1 channel playback, it is not recommended to place the surround speakers in
front. When placing the speakers as shown, select "DVS ON".
