NORMAL/PHANTOM mode
When you connect this unit to other equipment (DVD player,
LD player, video, etc.) which is playing sound sources
that have the or trademarks, you
can enjoy Dolby surround sound.
In the Normal/Phantom mode:

Connect the unit you want to play.

Press the DVD 1/VCR 1 or DVD 2/VCR 2 button to select
the input (DVD 1, VCR 1, DVD 2 or VCR 2) from the
socket you connected in step 1.

Press the NORMAL or PHANTOM button to select the
surround mode.
NORMAL:
●
For a stereo 2 channel input or a Dolby digital 2/0 input,
sound will be output from the front left, front right, centre
and surround speakers. The same monaural channel will
be output from the left and right surround speakers.
●
For a Dolby digital 5.1 channel input, sound will be output
from the front left, front right, centre, sub woofer, surround
left and surround right speakers.
If the surround signal only contains 1 channel, the same
monaural channel will be output from the left and right
surround speakers.
●
For a Dolby digital 1/0 input, sound will only be output
from the centre speaker.
PHANTOM:
The difference between this mode and the normal mode is
that no sound is output from the centre speaker.
The centre speaker signal is split equally and added to the
sound for the front left and front right speakers.
BYPASS:
Press the BYPASS button to cancel the surround mode.
Sound will only be output from the front left and front right
speakers.

For a Dolby digital multichannel input, any centre or sur-
round signals will be mixed and output from the front
speakers.
●
For a Dolby digital 1/0 input, monaural sound will be output
from the front speakers.

Start playing the sound source.
Notes:
●
When the Normal/Phantom mode is being used, the equal-
izer will be set to FLAT.
●
You cannot use the Normal/Phantom and Dolby Digital
surround features with headphones.
●
When headphones are connected to the headphone
socket, the Normal/Phantom and Dolby Digital surround
modes will be cancelled. (The NORMAL or PHANTOM
button will not work.)
When the headphones are disconnected, the Nor-
mal/Phantom mode will still be cancelled. In order to ac-
tivate the Normal/Phantom modes you must press the
NORMAL or PHANTOM button.
