Buttonhole Foot

Using the Buttonhole Foot:
a. Stitch selector
b. Needle thread tension 1 ~ 5
c. Presser foot Buttonhole foot
Starting to Sew:
1. Remove the All Purpose foot and replace with the
Buttonhole foot. (Fig. 1)
2. Carefully mark the buttonhole length on the fabric.
3. Place the fabric under the foot with the buttonhole
marking running towards you.
4. Move the slider (A) towards you so that the top mark (C)
on the slider aligns with the start mark (B). (Fig. 2)
5. Lower the presser foot.
6. Set the stitch selector at . Sew forward until you
reach the front mark of your buttonhole. Stop sewing at
a left stitch. (Fig. 3)
7. Set the stitch selector at . Sew four (4) to six (6)
stitches. Stop sewing at a right stitch.
8. Set the stitch selector at . Sew until you return to the
start mark of the buttonhole. Stop sewing at a right
stitch.
9. Set the stitch selector at . Sew four (4) to six (6)
stitches. Stop sewing at a left stitch.
10. Remove the fabric and draw the upper thread to the
backside of the fabric and knot the upper and lower
thread together. Place a pin just before the bartack at
each end to prevent cutting the bartacks. Cut the
opening with the seam ripper.
Note: When sewing a buttonhole at the edge of a fabric, set
the sliding buttonh
ole foot as illustrated and sew in reverse

Corded Buttonhole
1. With the buttonhole foot raised, hook the filler cord on
the spur at the back of the buttonhole foot. (Fig. 5)
Bring the ends toward you under the buttonhole foot,
clearing the front end. Hook the filler cord into the forks
on the front of the buttonhole foot to hold them tight.

2. Sew the buttonhole over the cord using the same
procedure as above. When finished sewing the
buttonhole, remove the fabric from the machine and cut
the sewing threads only.
3. Pull the left end of the filler cord to tighten it. Thread the
end through a darning needle, draw it to the wrong side
of the fabric and cut it. (Fig. 6)
