Connecting to Altus APS3G with RxControl
You can connect to the Altus APS3G with RxControl: a GUI tool that is part of the RxTools
software suite. Using RxControl you can monitor and configure your receiver, you can also load
a configuration script and upgrade the receiver firmware. The steps below describe how to
connect to the Altus APS3G using RxControl. Additional information is available in the RxControl
User Manual.
Step 1: Install RxTools
RxControl is part of the RxTools suite of GUI tools. You can find an installer for RxTools on the
memory stick that accompanied your Altus APS3G. The latest version of the RxTools installer
and User Manuals is also available on the Support section of the Septentrio website:
http://www.septentrio.com/support
Step 2: Connect the data cable to your PC
You can use the 5-pin data cable supplied with the Altus APS3G to connect between the receiver
and your PC. In the example given below, the DB9 connector of the data cable was connected
to a Prolific USB adapter.
Step 3: Connect to RxControl
Open RxControl then select:

Change Connection …

Select ‘
Serial Connection
’ then ‘
Create New…
’
from the drop down list

Select the connection you want from the ‘Serial Port’ drop down list. In this example, the
connection to the Altus APS3G is named COM39 on the PC.

Give the new connection a name and click ‘
Finish
’ to connect to the receiver.
