SPEED
Aggregate 30 FPS at 720×480
resolution across all eight channels.
Aggregate 60 FPS at 720×240
resolution across all eight channels.
For example, 7.5 FPS for eight
cameras (7.5 FPS × 8 = 60 FPS) at
720×240 resolution.
Aggregate 120 FPS at 360×240
resolution across all eight channels.
For example, 15 FPS for eight
cameras (15 FPS × 8 = 120 FPS) at
360×240 resolution.
Usually a DVR will be recording in a
mode that conserves hard drive space,
but increases the speed and quality for
a short duration to record the alarm
event.
Note: Setting a camera speed to OFF
will cause a camera to not be recorded
during an alarm. This will allow other
cameras to be recorded at a higher
speed.

QUALITY
The EX8 Plus DVR uses
MPEG
-

video compression to extend the
recording time on the hard drive. The
picture quality option lets you trade
off the amount a picture is
compressed versus the amount of
memory the picture takes up on the
hard drive.
For example, a higher picture quality
(6) means lower compression and
therefore a higher memory
requirement. A lower picture quality
(1) means higher compression. See
Table 3-5, “Picture quality settings”
on page 3–13.
