■
Automatic power generating function ・・・
By utilizing the movement of the arm on which the watch
is worn, the Automatic Generating System generates
and stores electrical energy to power the watch.
■
Manual winding power generating function ・・・
By winding the crown by hand, the built-in power
generator is activated to generate electrical energy
and stores it in the KINETIC E.S.U. to power the watch.
■
Real-Time Power Indicator function ・・・
While turning the crown by hand to charge the watch, the Direct Drive
indicator hand switches to the real-time power indicator, which displays an
approximate amount of power generated through current power generation.
→ P.58
→ P.60
→ P.60
The watch is equipped with the Direct Drive indicator hand,
which is an exclusive feature of the KINETIC Direct Drive, to
display an approximate time that the watch will keep operating.
■
Power Reserve Indicator function ・・・
→ P.65
■
Moon phase display function ・・・
The watch can display the approximate indication
of the moon phases.
→ P.69 (5D88)
・ The movement of your arm while the watch is worn generates electrical energy to power the watch. Even if the watch is worn on your arm, it will not be charged while your arm is not in motion.
・ It is recommended that the watch be worn on your wrist daily for at least 10 hours.
・ If you do not wear the watch for more than the continuous operating time that it displays, charge the watch as necessary so as not to stop operation of the
watch until the next time you wear it. Refer to “How to charge the watch” (p.58) for further details.

Product
There are two types of crowns, a normal crown and a screw-lock crown.
Check the crown on your watch.
The
crown
turns.
The crown
does not turn.
(It cannot
be turned
any further.)
While pressing
the crown
in, turn it in
the direction
indicated by
the arrow.
※ If your watch has a screw-lock crown, the crown screws into the watch to prevent malfunction and increase water resistance.
※ Be careful not to screw the crown in by force as it may damage the slots of the crown.

How to charge the watch (Manual winding power generation)
58
Turn the crown repeatedly in the direction
shown by the arrow to generate electric power.
Turn the crown in the direction shown by the arrow until the second hand starts moving.
※ If your watch has a screw lock type crown, unlock the crown first,
and then turn the crown. → P.57
※ If the second hand does not move even though the crown is
being turned, turn the crown more quickly.
Stop turning the crown to check the movement of the second hand and the Direct Drive indicator hand.
●
The second hand: check that the second hand is moving at 1-second intervals.
●
The Direct Drive indicator hand: check that the Direct Drive indicator hand is pointing at 0 as shown in the illustration.
※ If the watch has been left untouched for a long time, the second hand may start moving at 2-second
intervals (2 divisions forward at each time). If this happens, continue to generate electric power by turning
the crown until the Direct Drive indicator hand points at 0. It may take approximately 5 to 6 minutes.
●
The Direct Drive indicator hand moves up and down to display the electric power generation status.

The display of Direct Drive indicator hand switches between the power reserve display and the real-time power generation status and the amount of newly generated power display in the movement flow shown below.
During the manual winding power generation, the Direct Drive indicator hand displays the real-time power generation status and the amount of newly generated power alternately.

※ You can efficiently generate electric power when the Direct Drive indicator hand makes a large movement across the indicator dial.
※ If you continue to turn the crown repeatedly, the Direct Drive indicator hand will stop pointing at the maximum scale value (“M+1” position.) (The watch continues to accumulate power reserve.)
※ Depending on the intervals between turnings of the crown, the Direct Drive indicator hand may not move. This is not a malfunction.

The Direct Drive indicator hand displays the following:
●
During normal operation: power reserve display
・The Direct Drive indicator hand displays the amount of power reserve in 18 steps. (Refer to p. 60.)
・Within the range of approximately one month (approximately 30 days), the amount of power reserve will be displayed.
●
During the manual winding power generation: the real-time power generation status and the amount of newly generated power display
●
When the crown is turned to generate electric power, the Direct Drive indicator
hand moves up and down to indicate that the watch is being charged.
●
In normal operation, the Direct Drive indicator hand displays the amount of power reserve (how long the watch will keep operating).
・ The Direct Drive indicator hand displays the amount of power generated in 19 steps within a maximum of 6 hours. (Refer to p. 63.)
・ As you continue to turn the crown, the starting point of the Direct Drive indicator hand
movement gradually goes up according to the amount of power generated.
・ When approximately 4 seconds have elapsed after you stop turning the crown, the Direct
Drive indicator hand will return to the power reserve display.
●
If you temporarily stop turning the crown, the Direct Drive indicator hand will display the amount of newly generated power through the current power generation.
The Direct Drive indicator
hand moves upward.
The Direct Drive indicator hand stops moving and
displays the amount of newly generated power.
The Direct Drive indicator hand
returns to the power reserve display.
