Reattach each thruster mount, with thruster, to the frame, as shown in
Figure 2.8-1
. It’s alright if the thrusters get squeezed a little. Tighten the screws
just enough to hold the thruster firmly; they need not be as tight as possible. Be
careful not to strip the holes in the PVC pipe. If you do, simply re-drill the holes at
another location around the pipe.

You can now use pliers to turn the PVC pipes that the thrusters are mounted on
in order to get the thruster angles that you want. This is a good time to think
about thrust, vectors, and propulsion? How do the angles of the thrusters affect
the performance of the ROV? What angles will get you the best forward and
backward thrust? What angles will get you the best turning ability? What angles
will keep the propellers out of harm’s way as the ROV navigates in narrow or
crowded places. What is the best compromise for your mission needs?
